Mardi Himal Trek
About This Trek
Mardi Himal is the Annapurna region’s best-kept secret — a relatively new trail (opened only in 2012) that stays far quieter than its famous neighbors, the Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp treks, while delivering equally jaw-dropping mountain views. The route climbs steadily through dense rhododendron and oak forest, past the panoramic viewpoints of Australian Camp and Forest Camp, and up into open alpine ridgeline where Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South and Hiunchuli seem close enough to touch.
Starting and ending in Pokhara, Mardi Himal is short enough to fit into a tight schedule but still climbs to a genuine high-altitude base camp at 4,500m — making it a perfect choice for trekkers who want a real Himalayan experience without committing two or three weeks. The trail’s narrow ridgeline approach to base camp, with steep drops on either side and mountains rising directly in front of you, is one of the most dramatic final approaches of any short trek in Nepal.
